More soon from me – I’ve been a bit lazy since I’m on my hols
Hi everyone
I’ve been a bit lazy with posting new blog entries and lazy in my day to day exercises too, so I thought I’d remedy both these shortcomings by playing a game of touch footy and then blogging about it!
I hadn’t even heard of touch footy before last year, but since then I’ve been playing every week in the summer in a league organised in Centennial Park. It’s great fun – we have a mixed side and play other mixed teams from the area.
Touch footy can be rather a confusing game, and it took me a while to understand the concept, but when you have that under your belt, it’s mainly just fitness that sets the boys apart from the men! Oh, and you have to remember to pass the ball backwards which is a bit strange too :s
I won’t bore you with the rules, but if you have the chance to play ever, I whole heartedly recommend it!
Next time I may even post a photo of me in my kit
In the meantime, here’s a video of some great touch footy players:
Hey guys! Here’s another thing I absolutely love – MOVIES!
I won’t say that I’ll be doing an in depth reviews on this site, but instead I’ll be telling you my opinion every now and then of recent releases.
Well, I saw On the Road last week and I have to say it was good fun. I thought it was a brave role by the female lead, after she’d been brought to fame in the Twilight sagas, since this movie has more of an adult nature. I guess she didn’t want to pigeon hole herself into just one genre through her career.
The mood of the movie is very upbeat, with a swing/jazz sound track the whole way through, and really let you feel the emotion of the music back in the old days.
I give this movie 4 stars!
Jacob the sock money is a wonderful little creative. He’s grey with big white eyes and a red sweater that he likes to wear! I made it from part of one of my favourite old sweaters which I was about to throw away. I’m so happy I didn’t throw it away! Instead, part of it is always on display, being worn by little Jacob.
I made Jacob about 3 years ago, and I love bringing him to the nursery to show the children. Children have such good memories – I have over 300 sock monkeys and they seem to be able to remember all their names! As soon as I brought Jacob in to see the children, they all yell him name without me even having to tell them!
I’ll write more about how I made Jacob in another post. Have a great day!
One of the reasons I love making these sock puppets, apart from fuelling the creative fire inside of me, is the reaction I get from the children at my nursery when they lay their tiny eyes on the little creatures! Today at the nursery, I should a sock monkey to Harry, a 4 year old and one of my favourites because of his big, blue eyes. Anyway, he doesn’t smile very often, but his face instantly lit up, and he reached out to stroke the sock monkey’s head!! I almost cried, it was SOO cute!!
I’ll be posting a guide on how to make sock puppets soon. I just need to find a nice flash to use on my camera. Speaking of cameras, I’ll post something about photography tomorrow – I have a great tip on how to take photos of babies. See you soon!
OK, so veering off topic already and it’s only my second post, but running is one of my many hobbies so I thought I’d ramble on a bit about that today!
I don’t consider myself a very good runner, but I think I’m better than most and have a decent technique. I’ve been coached on my form and have found a way to run without aggravating my knees, which always used to be a problem, and seems to be the main excuse on why my friends don’t run.
If you have knee problems I suggest you practise running on your forefoot. The forefoot is between your sole and your toe, and provides good shock absorption since your calf muscle is absorbing the impact, rather than your knees. You’ll find it tiring on your calf muscles, but they’ll soon get used to it and you’ll be running pain free in no time!
Then it’s just a matter of slowly increasing your mileage bit by bit, week by week. You’ll be fighting fit in a few weeks of regular running, and you’ll feel so much better for it!
Howdy everyone! I’m Daisy and I’m from Loughborough in England. I’ve got a cute black cat named Cara, hence the name of my site. I work as a child carer in my local nursery and am surrounded by wonderful children every day. This makes me so happy! I ADORE children, and can’t wait to have some of my own
On this site I plan to write about some ideas I have for entertaining and caring for children. Recently I’ve been making sock puppets for the kids at school, including my favourite – sock monkeys! I’m planning to show you how to make all kinds of sock monkeys which you can use to play with your children and their friends. They’re easy to make and best of all super cheap! All you need is an old sock (please make sure it’s not too smelly!), and some materials to decorate it. But more on that soon!
So, that was my short self introduction. I have lots of other hobbies too, including running, photography, cooking, reading … the list goes on, and I’ll be writing occasionally about my interests here too.
I hope you stick around! Feel free to write about yourself in the comments too
